Nomad: Two Worlds

Posted by Aboriginal Art Directory | 20.01.09

The fashion photographer Russell James recently travelled to the Australian outback and shot landscape photographs of burial grounds, gorges, and other areas of import to Aboriginal spiritual practices. He then invited Aboriginal artists to paint on the prints, and the resulting pieces will be on display at Donna Karan’s Urban Zen, in Greenwich Village, during a brief exhibition that also includes a day devoted to the discussion of Aboriginal art and culture, on Jan. 24. (711 Greenwich St. 212-727-2220. Jan. 23-29.)
